Chief Minister M K Stalin signs five orders; Free bus pass for women and free Covid aid
Chennai: Immediately after taking charge as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, five important Government orders were issued by the new CM, MK Stalin.
He visited the General Secretariat on Friday morning and was received by the Chief Secretary to the Government of Tamil Nadu and senior officials. He signed five orders that were designed to fulfill the promises made in the election manifesto and to help the public deal with the Coronavirus pandemic.
For instance, all 'rice' ration cardholders will receive Rs.4000 out of which Rs.2000 will be distributed in May itself to provide some relief to the people amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Fulfilling its manifesto promise, the DMK government has slashed the price of Aavin milk by Rs.3. Moreover, all women can travel in state-owned buses for free from May 8 onwards.
The five Government orders that were signed:
1. To alleviate the sufferings of the people of Tamil Nadu with the threat of Covid-19 looming large, Rs. 4,000 will be provided to each family. In order to provide them with some means of livelihood and to provide comfort to all the families who have rice ration cards, the Chief Minister has signed an order to provide a relief amount of Rs. 4,153.39 crores, with Rs. 2,000 for each family as the first installment for almost 2,07,67,000 family card holders in the month of May itself in line with DMK's manifesto..
2. In order to fulfill the promise given in DMK's election manifesto and in the interest of the people, the Chief Minister has issued an order to reduce the price of Avin milk by Rs.3 per litre from May 16 onwards.
3. All working women travelling in ordinary fare city buses operating under the control of the State Transport Corporation and all women including students in higher education will be given a free pass. The Government will subsidize the additional cost of Rs. 1,200 crore to the transport corporations, toward this purpose.
4. The Chief Minister has received petitions related to various issues of the people in each district during his election campaign and has promised that action will be taken against them within 100 days of coming to power. In fulfillment of that promise, the Chief Minister approved the Government to create a new department to implement the scheme of "Ungal Thoguthiyil Muthalamaichar' and to appoint an Indian Civil Service Officer for the same.
5. Many of the public affected by Covid-19 are admitted not only in Government hospitals but also in private hospitals. In the interest of the public, hospitalization and treatment will be covered under the Government Insurance Scheme.
