Coimbatore North District Youth Congress members petition new TN Chief Minister M K Stalin to ban liquor
Chennai: In a letter to the newly sworn-in Chief Minister M K Stalin, Coimbatore North District Youth Congress members congratulated M K Stalin saying, "In the legislative elections, the Mathasarbatra Murpokku Kootani fought against fascist forces and their ideology, to save the identity and uniqueness of Tamil Nadu, which had been nurtured by Thanthai Periyar, Kamarajar, Perarignar Anna and Dr. Kalaignar. My heartfelt congratulations to you."
The members added that in the 2016 election manifesto, Dr. Kalaignar had declared that if the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) wins and rules, the first signature will be the declaration of ban on liquor. Hence, the members requested that Kalaignar's wish must be implemented in 2021.
"Millions of families will be saved and the next generation of youth will be saved. Rehabilitation centers can be set up to treat alcohol addicts. Millions of women will thank the implementation. Those who are employed by the Government in liquor stores should be given jobs in other relevant departments of the Government. We eagerly anticipate that you will do what Kalaignar said, even in his absence," petitioned members of the Coimbatore North District Youth Congress.
