Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner inspects Covid-19 prevention drives in Central Zone
Coimbatore: The Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner, P Kumaravel Pandian inspected Covid-19 prevention drives in the Central Zone area of Coimbatore Corporation.

He inspected the Coimbatore Corporation Central Zone Ukkadam which included the Vegetable Market on Ramar Kovil Road. He instructed all traders to wear face masks and maintain social distancing, and requested the public at the market area to do the same.

He instructed the owners of grocery stores, shopping malls, rice shops, bakeries, wholesale and retail outlets operating in Mohammad Kani Ravuthar Road, Range Gowder Street, Big Bazaar Street, Thiyagi Kumaran Market, Raja Road, Karuppa Gounder Road to wear face masks, maintain social distancing and ensure that customers did the same.
The Corporation Commissioner imposed Rs. 200 fine on 11 people who were not wearing face masks in the area and Rs. 500 each on two shop owners who did not follow social distancing within the store. He asked everyone to wear face masks, adhere to social distancing, wash their hands frequently with soap and water to prevent the spread of the the virus.
Sivasubramaniam, Central Zonal Assistant Commissioner, Zonal Health Officer Radhakrishnan, Health Inspectors and Corporation Officers were present during the inspection.
