"Oxygen Availability Monitoring Committee to be set up:" Coimbatore District Collector S Nagarajan

Coimbatore: Coimbatore District Collector, S Nagarajan has set up a special monitoring committee to make oxygen available to hospitals in Coimbatore district.

Oxygen deficiency in Coimbatore hospitals has been on the rise for a few weeks now with a large number of Covid-19 patients needing treatment. Although liquid oxygen was brought in from other states, the shortage persisted. Due to this, the District Collector S Nagarajan ordered the formation of a Special Monitoring Committee on Wednesday to monitor the activities, including the import of oxygen due to the rising need.

The Committee includes the Joint Director of Health, the General Manager of the District Trade Center, the Assistant Commissioner of Law and Order of the City Police, the Zonal Transport Officer, the District Manager of Central and Coimbatore North TASMAC, and the Assistant Director of the Drug Control Department.

The Committee will calculate the total number of patients admitted on total beds with oxygen in Coimbatore hospitals and the amount of oxygen required daily. In addition, unrestricted access to oxygen to hospitals will be calculated to provide the required oxygen to hospitals. Authorities expect that there will be no dearth in the uninterrupted supply of oxygen to hospitals.
