Relatives of a woman hacked her lover and forcibly took her away from Register Officer
Coimbatore: In a shocking incident that resembled movies, girl's relative attacked her lover whom she married a couple of months back. The attack took place in the Registrar office when they came to register their marriage. Bhagwati Kumar, 24, from Coimbatore, and a young woman from the same area were in love for the past 6 years and then got married.
As they belonged to different communities, the girl's parents refused to accept their relationship. The couple, who got married two months ago, lived in Kuppanur. The couple was attacked by relatives of the woman. Her relatives were waiting for the couple in Thondamuthur registrar office when they came to register their marriage yesterday. They tried to attack the girl and Bhagwati Kumar's hand was struck when he tried to protect her. They threw chili powder at him and as he collapsed the relatives dragged the woman and left.
Bhagwati Kumar has lodged a complaint with the police seeking action against those who attacked his wifeand dragged her away. Police are investigating.
