Risk of disease transmission due to debris accumulated in Thamaraikulam in Kinathukkadavu

Coimbatore: More than a thousand families are living in the Thamaraikkulam area near Kinathukadavu. Residents of the area have accused risk of spreading of disease due to dumping of garbage near the railway gate in Thamaraikkulam.

Also, the panchayat administration is said to be negligent in removing the garbage dumped near the railway gate. Due to the accumulation of garbage in the area, the last 2 days of heavy rains have soaked the rainwater and caused a strong stench.

Residents in the area have expressed fears that the mosquito production in the garbage dumps could increase the risk of disease transmission.

As people are already suffering from the coronavirus, living in an unhygienic environment can lead to the spread of diseases such as dengue and malaria.
