Coimbatore Corporation officials have appealed to the public to avoid overcrowding across the district.
Coimbatore: The COVID-19 spread was on the decline for months but lately, more than 250 people have tested positive for the virus in Coimbatore.
About 75 per cent of the affected areas are under the Corporation limits. Hence, the Coimbatore Corporation and the District Administration are taking various preventive measures to control the spread of COVID-19
An official from the corporation said, "COVID-19 is more likely to spread in public places such as places of worship, shopping malls, playgrounds, parks, bus stations, railway stations, markets and restaurants. Therefore, the public who go to these places, the staff who work there and all those who visit the premises are requested to wear masks and observe social space."
They also advise the people to avoid overcrowding at weddings and other special occasions. "We also request the public to refrain from spitting in the roads," the official added.
