DMK-AIADMK party candidates from the Coimbatore North constituency were seen campaigning simultaneously ahead of the campaign deadline.
Coimbatore: All candidates were ordered to end their campaigns by 7 pm today, with the general election set for April 6.
Ahead of this, DMK candidate VM Shanmugasundaram and AIADMK candidate Amman K Arjunan were scheduled to campaign in the Vadavalli area of Coimbatore North constituency from 6 pm to 6.30 pm and from 6.30 pm to 7 pm respectively.
But AIADMK members reached the campaign location at the allotted time for DMK, parked their campaign vehicle and mobilized their party volunteers.
At around 6:20 pm, DMK candidate VM Shanmugasundaram arrived with his supporters to campaign in the area.

Meanwhile, Amman K Arjunan started to chant slogans to support his party AIADMK, which led to DMK members chanting for their candidate. It erupted into a commotion at the location.

The police there spoke to both sides and made peace following which the two candidates were asked to campaign simultaneously. Both the candidates VM Shanmugasundaram and Amman K Arjunan were seen seeking votes with their supporters chanting slogans and playing the accordion.
At the gathering, DMK candidate VM Shanmugasundaram said, “Time will respond to the anarchic course of the AIADMK. Everyone should disperse without getting into any trouble." Around the same time, the AIADMK members disbanded as the deadline was nearing.
