Coimbatore: MNM President Kamal Haasan, who is also the candidate for Coimbatore South constituency, today met the people of Kallukuzhi, an area that lacks basic toilet facilities.
As a part of Kamal Haasan's series of campaigns, he has been visiting smaller areas in the constituency.

Even with his recent leg surgery, he walked to the Kallukuzhi area with the aid of a walking stick to ease the pain in his leg.

The Kallukuzhi women welcomed him and also inquired about his leg pain and physical condition.
Kallukuzhi area in Ward 17 is near the developed area of Race Course, which is popular in the industrial city of Coimbatore. More than 500 families live in this area without proper toilets, roofless houses, driveways and without zero sanitation facilities relying mostly on public toilets.
MNM Kamal Haasan met people living in the Kallukuzhi area and listened to their basic problems such as dumping of city wastes, lack of safe drinking water and other such grievances. The women in the area told their issues of not being able to use bathroom facilities, on a daily basis.
People in the area complained that even though a government change is happening every 5 years, no action has been taken to improve their situation.

Kamal Haasan patiently listened to their needs and said, "I did not come here to collect votes. I have come to meet you and ask about your needs. It is your right to ask for your needs and it is my duty to remind you of it. Steps will be taken to provide you with basic facilities."
