The railway sources say that the electrification works will be completed shortly.
Coimbatore: The electrification works at the railway tracks near Podanur, Kinathukadavu and Pollachi are in progress. The railway tracks were changed into broad gauge a few years ago. After changing into broad gauge, the train services were being operated viaPollachi, Dindigul and Pallakad.
Alongside, a train service from Pollachi to Chennai and another train service from Rameshwaram, Thiruchendur were being operated.
But due to the Covid-19 impact, these train services were suspended. Since then, the electrification of railway tracks through the Pollachi-Kinathukadavu-Podanur are in process.

As a first step, the railway workers were seen installing electric poles and wires in the Mullipatti area.
"In a few months, the railway administration will conduct a test run of the electric train and take action to run the train," said our sources from the Railway Department.
Alongside, a train service from Pollachi to Chennai and another train service from Rameshwaram, Thiruchendur were being operated.
