Coimbatore: A Government school in Coimbatore closed today after a Physical Education (PE) teacher was tested positive for COVID-19.
A Government Higher Secondary School in Malumichampatti, Coimbatore was closed today to clean and sanitize the premises from COVID-19 exposure after a PE teacher from the school tested positive.
The Malumichampatti government school has 66 students studying in Class 12 and were accompanied by 20 teachers on the premises.
The PE teacher was tested positive on March 26.Following the news about infection, the school was closed yesterday afternoon. The Health Department was also informed to conduct tests on the teachers for COVID-19 infection.
Speaking about this incident, the school Principal Nandakumar said, "Arrangements have been made to clean and sanitize the entire school premises. The school will be reopened after the elections."
