"We have no personal grudge against Minister SP Velumani:" DMK candidate Karthikeya Sivasenapathy

Coimbatore: DMK candidate Karthikeya Sivasenapathy who is contesting from Coimbatore Thondamuthur constituency campaigned today in RS Puram area to garner support for the upcoming elections.

Addressing the public while campaigning, Karthikeya Sivasenapathy said, "Coimbatore Thondamuthur Assembly constituency is a diverse constituency comprising of many important features and on the other hand, a constituency comprising of Western Ghats and agriculture villages. But for a long time, this constituency has not seen any major development because of Minister SP Velumani.

We have no personal grudge against Minister SP Velumani but as a politician he has been involved in various scandals without acting honestly. This is an act against the Tamil community, against everyone who supports the Tamil community.

This is why the leader of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, M K Stalin vehemently opposes Minister S P Velumani. Thus far, Minister SP Velumani has been involved in corruption worth at least Rs. 50,000 crores. He has also embezzled more than Rs. 12,000 crores during COVID-19 alone. His greed without anyconscience has led to the accumulation of large sums of money through corruption.

With that much money, a person can only live a restless life. The verdict in the Rs. 4,000 crore corruption case against Minister S P Velumani is due on April 21. Following that, the verdict of the people is coming on May 2, confirming that his position will be revoked in one of the two," he opined.

"DMK's environmental wing has listed the problems in the constituency and plans are afoot to address them. We have published it as an election manifesto. We have also mentioned the problems in each part of the constituency. There are various problems related to this constituency including unemployment, lack of proper drinking water supply, privatization of drinking water etc.

Minister S P Velumani has been accused of embezzling Rs. 3,400 crore in the privatization of drinking water supply project. He has given jobs to at least 1 lakh Uttar Pradesh workers in the region, while those from Tamil Nadu are jobless. This anarchic and indifferent attitude of the Minister has greatly affected trade over the past few years. And it is saddening that the Minister's goondas attack the police. In the forest areas next to Vadavalli, the AIADMK members get drunk and create anarchy and attack the officials who question it.

Recently, Karunya Nagar police officers have been attacked by Minister S P Velumani's henchmen. The police have refused to accept the complaint lodged by the complainant. All this anarchy must end during these elections. I am currently in the central part of the city and I am moving to the constituency to know and act on the problems of the people as soon as possible. I will stand on the field with the people and solve their problems," reiterated Karthikeya Sivasenapathy.
