The Vadakkipalayam police officials are investigating the case.
Coimbatore: Three people, including AIADMK Panchayat Secretary Giri, members Udayakumar and Jagadish, were allegedly attacked and injured by DMK members. The three injured have been admitted to Pollachi Government Hospital for treatment.
The Vadakkipalayam Police are investigating the case further. Also, a complaint has been filed on behalf of the DMK party by AIADMK members.
Soon after, Deputy Speaker Pollachi Jayaraman met the AIADMK leader who was admitted to the hospital and expressed his condolences. He also met with the reporters and said that DMK has deliberately attacked the AIADMK and that the DMK was inciting violence to prevent its victory.He then accused the DMK of making unspeakable comments on the Chief Minister and asked them to stop such activities.
The incident took place in Okkilipalayam near Pollachi, Coimbatore where a social activist named Sabarimala was campaigning for DMK candidate yesterday. It is said that the AIADMK members allegedly attacked them for derogatory speech against Deputy Speaker Pollachi Jayaram. This led to a clash between the two parties and immediately the police who were present at the scene cleared the crowd.
With the complaint filed at the Vadakkipalayam police station, the police officers are currently investigating the case.
