After his degrading comments against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, A Raja extended his apology today.
Coimbatore: Nilgiris Lok Sabha member and DMK leader A Raja made a public apology to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami at a press conference held at the DMK office today.
After CM Edappadi Palaniswami turned emotional at the campaign on Sunday regarding the derogatory comment made by A Raja, he extended a public apology.
Today, A Raja apologised to CM Edappadi Palaniswami through a statement read out before the reporters. He also told, "Still, I came across reports that the chief minister turned emotional at my remarks and I am deeply anguished over this. I express regret from the bottom of my heart for lines that were misunderstood."
A Raja also said that he does not want to embarrass his party - DMK or its leader M K Stalin.
The Nilgiris Lok Sabha member A. Raja has been slandering the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for the past few days during the election campaign. He also made insulting comments about the CM's birth and his mother. Following this, at a rally in Thiruvotriyur, CM Edappadi Palaniswami teared up and expressed his grief. The police had booked a case on behalf of AIADMK on the Ooty MP for the comment.
