The Vadakkipalayam police officials have taken up the investigation for this case.
Coimbatore: The Okkilipalayam Police have filed a case on Deputy Speaker Pollachi Jayaram and 8 more members from DMK and AIADMK parties after the clash at the campaign last night near Pollachi, Coimbatore. The police are also investigating the case further.
A social activist named Sabarimala was campaigning yesterday night in support of the DMK candidate Dr Varadharajan in Okkilipalayam village near Pollachi, Coimbatore. During the campaign, it is alleged that a few AIADMK members interrupted and involved in an argument with the DMK members. This led to a scuffle between the two parties.
Following this, the Okkilipalayam Panchayat President Parthasarathi filed a complaint on Pollachi Jayaraman, his son Praveen and AIADMK members Rajamanikkam, Jagadeesan and Namagiri Raj. Similarly, a case was filed by AIADMK on 4 members from DMK party. Based on these complaints, the Okilipalayam police have booked cases on the members.
It is also said that during the campaign by DMK member Manikandan, Pollachi Jayaraman's son Praveen and members of AIADMK namely Rajamanickam, Jagadeesan, Namgiri Raj have condemned the DMK member for caste based hate.
Today, DMK member Manikandan has filed a case and the Vadakkipalayam police are currently investigating it.
