1000 paramilitary troops arrive in Coimbatore to beef up election security
Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer, Satyaprada Sahu announced that an additional 235 companies of paramilitary forces will be arriving in Tamil Nadu to beef up security during the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections.
With 65 companies of paramilitary troops having already arrived in Tamil Nadu, a total of 300 company troops are reportedly on security duty in Tamil Nadu. Following this, 10 paramilitary companies from Agartala, 8 paramilitary companies from Jaipur, 15 paramilitary companies from Gwalior and 8 paramilitary companies from Jamshedpur arrived in Chennai on Sunday, on special trains.
Following this, 1000 paramilitary troops arrived at the Coimbatore railway station by a special train from Punjab. The Coimbatore District and City Police greeted the troops and are currently in the process of allocating accomodation for them. They will be stationed in the city for a period of one month, until the process of counting votes is completed.
