Freebies will never eradicate poverty - Kamal Haasan campaigns
Coimbatore: Kamal Haasan, chairman of the Makkal neethi Maiam, which is contesting from the Coimbatore South Assembly constituency, campaigned in all 19 wards of the constituency today. He then went on to campaign in the Kempatti Colony area next to the Town Hall.
He said, "You are the reason why the 3 year old Makkal Neethi Maiam was born. It is not our job to remove other parties but to form the people’s rule. They ask me if I can do everything you say. I will keep my promises by being honest. If I win I will set up an MLA's office in every ward and easily address your grievances.

The condition of the people living near the sewers and garbage dumps which are not cleaned properly is so bad that the other parties do not even care a bit about it. I need to change this situation quickly and give me the opportunity for that change."
He added, "Give me a chance and I will implement projects in a hundred days that other parties have not done in years. Politics is my duty, not my profession. I will perform my duty better with your encouragement. Freebies will never eradicate poverty. Labor is the only way to eradicate poverty. I've talked to some people in the area who say we don't want freebies, give us jobs and we take care of our lives. It is my duty to fulfill their request. All 19 wards will have an MLA's office in which you can register for a job. Our job is to find a job for you."
