Anita, a pregnant woman from Nallakathu Estate next to Valparai was admitted at the Valparai Hospital but was forcefully shifted to Pollachi Government Hospital on 18th March.

Subsequently, when the pregnant woman was taken to the Pollachi Hospital in a 108 vehicle, Doctors at the Pollachi government hospital pronounced the baby as still born. Shocked by the death of the baby the relatives blamed the Valparai Government Hospital.
Later more than 30 people staged a protest at the Valparai Gandhi statue bus stand last evening, demanding that such incidents should not happen in the future and that an inquiry should be held into the incident.
Police officials have filed a case against the 30 protestors for crowding at a public place during Covid-19 pandemic.
