Coimbatore: Vanathi Srinivasan is contesting in the Coimbatore South Constituency on behalf of the AIADMK led NDA alliance.
As part of the campaign, Vanathi Srinivasan met with lawyers in Coimbatore todayand rallied for their support.
She then said "I stand before you as a female candidate and I am glad to meet you as a lawyer. I miss the legal profession since I came to politics.
I have not been going to any of the cases since I came to contest the 2016 election. Politics is an ambition in life and that I have decided to travel. I have decided that it is a political task. For the last 5 years I have been doing a lot of help for weavers, girls, women and fatherless children.
I have included 20,000 people in the 5 lakh rupees insurance scheme. I recently conducted an ophthalmology camp and provided eye glasses to about 2000 people at their homes.
We have to get a lot of projects from the Central government and come up with various projects including metro rail projects like other metropolitan areas.
The Noyyal River needs to be rehabilitated and the ponds around the city of Coimbatore need to be cleaned and maintained. We need to talk to the Central Government and create more jobs.
Mayura Jayakumar, who stood for Congress last time, is contesting again in this election. What has he done for this constituency in the last 5 years? Kamal Haasan who stands on the other side is contesting in an intent on defeating the BJP.
Why defeat the BJP when he is against corruption. Kamal, must stand against Stalin if he wants to stand against corruption and not against me.
Some people are saying that the value of my property which was 1 crore has gone up since the last election. My family property came to me after partition, that is all I have. Many people are talking without even understanding anything.
Is Kamal ready to tell anyone what he has done in the last five years? People know who they will support so please think about the constituency before doing it. If you look at my public life journey over the last 30 years you will understand it for yourself."
Later Vanathi Srinivasan urged everyone to vote.
