Regional Development Officer and Election Monitoring Committee officer of the Valparai Assembly Constituency dismissed: District Collector orders.
Coimbatore: As the Assembly elections preparations in Tamil Nadu are in full swing, the Election Commission has appointed Election Flying Squad officers in every Assembly constituency in Tamil Nadu. The Commission has appointed many Revenue and Police officers in the Flying Squad.
For Pollachi North, officer Velliangiri was appointed as the Regional Development Assignment officer and was made to head the flying squad team. When the Election Expenditure Observer Ramkrishnakedia has asked the Velliangiri led-committee to examine a report and return it within two hours for submission, it was not done.
Further, the Election Expenditure Observer Ramkrishnakedia lodged a complaint with the District Collector against the Regional Development Assignment Officer Velliangiri.
The Coimbatore District Collector S Nagarajan, who accepted the complaint, conducted an inquiry and dismissed officer Velliangiri along with two flying squad officers - Prasath and Kumaravel.
It is also to be noted that the Election Commission had transferred Coimbatore District Collector Rajamani and Commissioner Sumit Saran in the last few days.
