300 liquor bottles illegally hoarded in a private bar confiscated in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: The Selvapuram police confiscated 300 bottles of liquor which were being sold illegally in boxes at a bar near a TASMAC outlet in the Selvapuram area of Coimbatore.
Ahead of the Assembly polls, the Election Flying Squad has been conducting various raids across the city on a daily basis and confiscated jewellery and money. With TASMAC outlets ordered to be shut for four days during elections, people have reportedly been buying and hoarding liquor in bulk.
The police are investigating the two staff at the bar who had reportedly brought the liquor bottles in bulk to sell them at night, after the liquor store was shut. It is also alleged that bottles of liquor were being supplied from this bar to political party members who campaign in the city.
