Tempo loaded with corn cob catches fire in Coimbatore.
Coimbatore: A tempo loaded with corn cob in Coimbatore caught fire at the Central Cotton Research Institute in Coimbatore and was destroyed.
On Thursday, a truck loaded with corn cob for cattle fodder was making its way into premises of the Central Cotton Research Institute, located on Marudhamalai Road. When the tempo brushed on the high-voltage power lines while passing by a power pole, the pile of corn cob caught fire.
Along with the tempo being completely destroyed in the fire, three coconut trees nearby were also engulfed in the flames. No casualties have been reported. The Kavundampalayam fire department rushed to the spot with two fire trucks and fought for an hour to extinguish the fire.
