Our aim is to oust the two Dravidian parties, says Sarathkumar at the Makkal Neethi Maiam campaign
Coimbatore: Sarathkumar's speech at the Makkal Needhi Maiam campaign said that their aim is to oust the two Dravidian parties.
R Sarathkumar, the actor and the founder of All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi, said that Makkal Needhi Maiam led-alliance aims to drive out the two Dravidian parties that have been deceiving the people for 54 years by popularizing their party symbols. This morning, Sarathkumar addressed the crowds in support of Dr. Mahendran, the Makkal Neethi Maiam (MNM) candidate for the Singanallur Assembly constituency in the Udayampalayam and Uppilipalayam areas of Coimbatore.
Sarathkumar said, "The DMK and AIADMK, which have ruled Tamil Nadu alternately for the past 54 years, have placed great emphasis on their welfare and it does not give importance to the welfare of the people. This has led to the dilemma of having to hand out freebies and money to the people. Actor Kamal Haasan has started MNM with the aim of finding a solution to all these problems."
He also said, "We have now begun to travel in the same alliance because both of us were more concerned with many things like taking measures to protect the well-being of the people. Our alliance is working towards our aim to oust the two Dravidian parties. They have been popularizing the party symbols among the people to rule for years. If not for their symbols, the parties would have even lost their deposit." He stated that these two Dravidian parties are responsible for the formation of caste politics in Tamil Nadu.
At the rally, Sarathkumar emphasised that the Singanallur Assembly constituency candidate Dr. Mahendran is a suitable person to address the problems of the constituency. He said, "Dr. Mahendran is a doctor and an educated personality. He knows what medicine has to be administered to patients to cure the disease. He also knows what action needs to be taken to address the problems in this constituency as well. Therefore, the people should support him as well as actor Kamal Haasan, who is contesting from Coimbatore South constituency and all the candidates who are contesting on behalf of the Makkal Neethi Maiam."
Sarathkumar added, "For both of us acting is a profession. Politics is a service. Today, we are spending the money which we earned for years to contest in elections for the benefits of the people. But recently, BJP candidate Vanathi Srinivasan had commented that Kamal Haasan, after losing the elections will go back to acting. As she said, we will go back to acting but they must think of their situation if they lose."
He also said that they have to learn to speak politely and it is unfair to remark that Kamal was kicked in the leg for visiting Mamta Banerjee in Kolkata. "Those who speak like this are unworthy to be politicians. Do not sell your votes for money and rather vote in an honest manner. In this election, the people must support our efforts to see a revolution and fulfil their duty of being responsible citizens," said Sarathkumar.
