Coimbatore: Special attention to be given to sensitive polling booths following a survey. The number of sensitive polling booths in Coimbatore district have been noted and it has been decided to make special security arrangements for it.
861 polling booths have been identified as sensitive in Coimbatore district. Preparations for the Assembly elections are in full swing in Coimbatore district and officers have begun printing the polling receipts. Work has also begun to make the necessary facilities at the polling stations. In total, 4427 polling booths have been set up in the district and of these, tense polling stations have been identified.
There are 51 sensitive polling booths in 17 places in Mettupalayam, 52 polling booths in 11 places in Sulur, 153 polling booths in 26 places in Kavundampalayam and 153 polling booths in 20 places in Coimbatore North. There are 137 sensitive polling booths in 19 places in Thondamuthur, 125 polling booths in 17 places in Coimbatore South, 91 polling booths in 14 places in Singanallur, 59 polling booths in 9 places in Kinathukadavu, 28 polling booths in 6 places in Pollachi and 12 polling booths in 7 places in Valparai.
The Election Commission has ordered additional security arrangements and additional staff at these polling booths.
