Both Jeevanantham and Saravanan have been sent to judicial custody after being produced at the district court in Coimbatore.
Coimbatore: Azhagammal and Anita are the residents of Injiparai Estate in Valparai, Coimbatore. Jeevanantham (20) and Saravanan (38) from Gobichettipalayam lurked in the streets of Valparai pretending to be astrologers.
Azhagammal and Anita who believed in the astrologers, called both Jeevanantham and Saravanan inside their house and to look at their fortune.
Meanwhile both Jeevanantham and Saravanan cunningly got the anklets and earnings from both Anita and Azhagammal and escaped.
When they realised they have been conned, Azhagammal and Anita filed a complaint at the Valparai police station.
Inspector Maheshwari and SI Ilango conducted the investigation and during their patrol duty found two men lurking on the streets. When investigated, their involvement in the jewel scam was revealed.
Officials arrested both of them and seized Rs 20,500 worth jewels. Both Jeevanantham and Saravanan have been sent to judicial custody after being produced at the district court in Coimbatore.
