Coimbatore: Forest officials in Anamalai Tiger Reserve in Valparai, Coimbatore today celebrated the World Forest Day.
As an initiative to celebrate the World Forest Day an awareness program was conducted to create awareness regarding planting and protecting trees and the protection of wildlife at the Cinkona Estate area in Valparai, Coimbatore.
During the event, Manampalli Forest Ranger Manigandan headed the event and ensured the planting of 50 plus tree saplings today.
Later the Forest Officials advised the public to grow trees and protect the remaining forest areas. The forest officials said "forest areas started to shrink because of the greed of humans, this has led us to eat food less and medicines more.
It is very important for forest and forest habitat. We must grow more forests and in return get more rainfall, so we must ensure forests must be expanded."
