Coimbatore: Kovai Thangam said he did not contest independently as per DMK Leader MK Stalin's request and that will strive for DMK's victory. Kovai Thangam who quit the party as vice-president of the Tamil Nadu State Congress, told reporters at the time that Stalin had asked him not to run independently in the Valparai constituency and that he would work for the victory of the DMK.
Kovai Thangam in a press conference said, "As per request of DMK leader Stalin, I did not contest independently in Valparai. This regime has earned the reputation of being a corrupt regime. I have requested the Election Commission to transfer government officials, including Coimbatore District Collector Rajamani and to transfer government officials who support Minister SP Velumani''
He said he would campaign in support of the DMK alliance in Coimbatore and said that DMK leader Stalin will definitely become the Chief Minister and do good deeds for the people.
