Uzhavar Santhai will be revived and a new bus stand will be set up at Vadavalli: Candidate VM Shanmugasundaram
Coimbatore: Coimbatore North Assembly DMK candidate and candidate of the Mathasarbatra Murpokku Kootani V.M. Shanmugasundar today campaigned for votes from Vadavalli Uzhavar Santhai farmers and Vadavalli bus stand areas.
He said, "I have been the panchayat president of Vadavalli three times since 1984 and my wife has held office once. I have fulfilled all the needs of the people of Vadavalli area as much as I can. This time I have been nominated by my brother and DMK leader MK Stalin as the candidate for the Coimbatore North Assembly constituency on behalf of the DMK. Once the DMK rule is established, the bus stand and Uzhavar Sandhai will be revived in Vadavalli area. The Uzhavar Santhai was developed during the DMK regime. It was created so that small farmers could bring their own yields of vegetables from their one-and-a-half-acre area and trade them at the farmers' market, setting their own prices for those agricultural products."
He added saying, "Uzhavar Santhai was created by the late DMK chief Kalaignar. During the AIADMK regime, the farmers' market was completely closed and went unkempt. Therefore, with the return of the Thalapathy the Uzhavar Santhai will be revived and accommodation will be provided and all farmers will be able to sell their produce at the Uzhavar Santhai for a good profit. The public can meet me 24 hours a day in my office in Vadavalli and report their grievances."
VM Shanmugasundaram spoke to all the college students, passengers in the bus stand and the farmers at the Uzhavar Santhai and asked them to vote for the 'Rising Sun' symbol in the Assembly elections. He was accompanied by party executives and volunteers during the campaign.
