Agriculture should be in the hands of the farmer, not in the hands of corporates: Kamal Haasan
Coimbatore: A public meeting in support of Singanallur constituency candidate Mahendran on behalf of the Makkal Neethi Maiam was held at the Peelamedu Rottikadai ground this evening.

Kamal Haasan, Leader of MNM said, "I have persuaded people from various walks of life, including a former IPS officer and a doctor, to come into politics. Many good-hearted people stayed away from politics as it is a sewer but I have persuaded them to get into politics to bring about the change. Agriculture should be in the hands of farmers not in the hands of corporates. All I can say to those who think why we should vote for our party is that we are honest. I entered the field believing in honesty. That is my qualification."

He added, "I always wanted to be the voice of the people. One thing to keep in mind when people involved in protest cause damage to public property is that it is their property. It would have been better if someone from our party had won the last parliamentary election. The people would have had the opportunity to speak out against the various schemes that the Central Government has brought against them.
However many of us today have qualified to accumulate many of the victories in the upcoming election. People do not need pots and pans as freebies. Only good plans are needed. What is the use of giving a washing machine when the water is not supplied evenly. People must realise they lost their rights when the right to supply water was given to a foreign company along with the consent of the people.

Everyone has the right to access all essential services. Only by broadcasting assembly events live can people learn about the activities of the candidates they have chosen and that is why we are urging this. The investment they make on you today is to make you forget the mistakes they make. Today they are looking to raid my cars with an income tax raid. A raid carried out with the intention of deliberately spreading slander and this will not affect us in any way."
He also added, "I can get paid a crore rupees if I work a day. I have entered the field of politics with the aim of serving my last days to the people who have made me live in luxury for 60 years. My mission is to serve the people. Government does not rely on Tasmac solely for revenue, the government can function better even if it halves the number of existing shops. The reason I say halve is because so many people today are addicted to alcohol and closing all the shops immediately will create a different kind of problem in the community. To avoid that I have put before the move to gradually close the liquor stores. Apart from that we can definitely close all Tasmac stores in the near future if we hire many psychologists to recover from alcoholism. Give our party, which has made so many special plans for the people, a chance in the forthcoming elections. Do not listen to others on election day, listen to your own mind. Our party has issued a statement only for projects that are possible. There should not be another corrupt party as an alternative to one corrupt party. People must realise this. We are in war of independence to recover Tamil Nadu in this upcoming election"
