Coimbatore Medical College Hospital Doctors perform 150 open heart surgeries in 2 years: Dean Nirmala
Coimbatore: Coimbatore Medical College Hospital has started various modern cardiac units and is functioning well. Special units for Open Heart surgeries had been launched in January 2018. Specialist doctors to date have performed 150 open heart surgeries in two years.
Dean Nirmala appreciated the achievement of the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital Doctors. She said patients are classified based on the different types of problems that can occur in the heart. Over the past two years, more than 150 open-heart surgeries have been performed, including heart tumor removal, heart valve replacement, bypass surgery and coronary artery bypass grafting. 83 bypass surgery, 42 heart valve replacements, 3 heart tumor surgery, 20 heart blocks an 2 joint heart surgeries have been performed. Last week led by cardiologist Srinivasan, anesthesiologist Kalyanasundaram, cardiac surgeons Mohammad, Minnathullah, Arvind, jointly removed two valves per patient and two new ones were fitted.
The 3rd heart valve was transplanted to the same patient and cardiac bypass surgery was performed simultaneously. Dean Nirmala said this achievement is huge for a hospital in Tamil Nadu. Dean Nirmala said the patient was now doing well and appreciated the doctors who have performed so well and achieved so much.
