EB Assistant engineer and inspector arrested for accepting bribe of Rs. 10000 in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: An electrical engineer and an inspector were arrested for accepting bribe ofRs 10,000 from a woman who had applied for an electrical connection to a newly built house near Coimbatore.
Kottai Eswari is the wife of Karuppasamy, a resident of Papampatti, Coimbatore. He owns a house in the area. He has applied for electricity connection to the house.
At that time, he paid up the government-fixed fee of Rs 5,636 but the engineer and inspector have demanded Rs 10,000 as bribe. Instead of bribing them, she complained to the Anti-Corruption Department.
In this case, the Anti-Corruption sleuths today handed over the chemically smeared money to Eswari to track the corruption. As planned she handed over the money to Papampatti Electrical Assistant Engineer Muthuraj (40) and Inspector Thankaraj (48) were caught red-handed.
Anti-corruption police continued to interrogate and arrest them. They also said their homes would be searched.
