Actor Mansoor Ali Khan's candidature for the Coimbatore Thondamuthur constituency as an independent candidate was accepted today. He criticized that the country was in a state of devastation. He said Chief Minister has been campaigning with about 1000, 1500 guards for more than 4 months and that the Election Commission should hold the elections fairly by asking the Chief Minister to resign from his post and go with his volunteers individually to meet the public.
He accused that on the other hand they are holding village council meetings and wasting time. He said he wants to stand independently on behalf of the Tamil Desiya Puligal Katchi and that he was competing in this zone because he was born here.
He said that the biggest challenge is to take their symbol to all the people within ten to fifteen days after the arrival. He said he is confident of doing it and that he was Tipu Sultan's tiger. He sung "Raghupathi Raghava Raja Ram" a Sanskrit sloka emphasizing religious unity saying he wants to sing in the Ravana desam and Periyar desam.
He also pledged that Tamil Desiya Puligal Katchi would strive to unite all Hindus, Christians and Muslims in this land where religious harmony should be cherished and protected.
