Coimbatore: Valparai in Coimbatore district has been experiencing severe heat for the past few weeks with the onset of summer and people have been suffering. Rivers and streams are completely dry due to lack of rainfall in summer. Tea plants in tea plantations are scorched.
This heat spell was broken when it suddenly rained heavily this afternoon. The summer heat was reduced and it resulted in pleasant weather.
Workers said the tea plants would also be saved from the extreme heat if it continued to rain for a few days.
