Polling station with only women officers to be set up
Coimbatore: Election officials have decided in Coimbatore district to set up polling booths where only women officers would work. There are currently 4,477 polling stations set up in Coimbatore district. Of these, 22,534 employees are to serve in the election. Polling stations are to be set up in the district at the rate of one per cent for women only.
District Electoral Division officials said, "The Election Commission has ordered to set up one female polling booths for all women only. Accordingly, 10 polling booths will be set up in Coimbatore district. Here all the staff from the Chief Polling Officer will be female employees. And only female police officers will be allowed to engage in security work. Apart from this only women are allowed to work as agents of political parties. Currently 871 polling stations are considered high risk booths."
