Coimbatore: 8,642 people have expressed interest for postal ballot in Coimbatore. District election officials said in Coimbatore district, 8,642 elderly and disabled voters over the age of 80 have applied for postal voting. The 10 assembly constituencies in Coimbatore district have 64,650 voters over the age of 80 and more than 20,000 disabled voters. Applications for postal voting were delivered directly to the homes of the voters by the respective polling officials.
In Coimbatore district 8,642 people have applied to cast their votes through postal in 10 constituencies. Election officials said they would be given ballot papers as per the instructions of the Election Commission.
District election officials, "8,642 people have registered to vote in all 10 constituencies in the Coimbatore district. After the list of candidates are finalized, the ballot papers will be printed and ballot papers will be issued for postal voting as per the guidelines of the Election Commission."
