Rs. 85 lakh of unaccounted cash confiscated in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: Rs. 85 lakh of unaccounted cash confiscated in Coimbatore by the flying squad. As assembly elections are announced in Coimbatore district, flying squads have been deployed to inspect vehicles in major urban areas, including the district check post. Flying squad have been confiscating unaccounted money and until yesterday in Coimbatore district, the flying squad have confiscated 85 lakh rupees which was brought without proper documents.
As assembly elections approaches undocumented cash over Rs. 50000 and goods are being confiscated. Accordingly, in Coimbatore district, Rs 85 lakh has been confiscated since the election process began. Of this, 36 lakh rupees has been returned on the basis of producing relevant documents. In Sulur constituency, a maximum of Rs 20 lakh has been seized. Apart from cash, liquor, T-shirts, groceries and gold jewelery were also seized.
