Pollachi rape case: Custody extended for 8 accused
Coimbatore: Custody has been extended for 8 accused in the Pollachi rape case. The judge has remanded their custody till March 31.
In February 2019, five men namely Thirunavukarasu 25, Sabarirajan 25, Satish 28, Vasanthakumar 27, Manivannan 28 were arrested in lodged in the Salem jail for rape and harassment of a female student in Pollachi, Coimbatore district.
On the basis of confessions from three more victims, the police arrested Pollachi AIADMK student wing secretary Arulanantham 34, Haran Paul 29, Babu 27 on December 6. The accused, who were held at Gobi Prison, were produced before the Coimbatore Women’s Court yesterday. The other five inmates at the Salem jail were produced via video conferencing.
Judge Nandhini Devi has extended the police custody of 8 suspects till March 31.
