Coimbatore: Out of cash confiscated by the flying squad Rs 36 lakh handed over to 25 people so far. A total of 90 flying squads have been set up in the Coimbatore district. There are 9 flying squads patrolling per constituency. These flying squads have been conducting vehicle inspections and confiscating money and gifts carried without proper documents. Rs 85,03,520 has been confiscated from 68 persons in 10 constituencies in Coimbatore district till yesterday without proper documents.
5,917 bottles of liquor, including foreign liquor, were seized. Of these, 25 brought documents relating to the money they had taken and submitted them to election officials. Following this Rs. 36,19,860 was returned to them. Election officials said that the rest of the money has been handed over to the treasury,
