The heavyweight slugfest between Minister for local body and rural development SP Velumani and Karthikeya Sivasenapathy, Secretary of DMK Environmental wing is expected to heat up in the coming days, as both are fielded as the candidates by AIADMK and DMK respectively for Thondamuthur Constituency in Coimbatore.
Dearth of transparency in projects and haphazard execution of the same is what people of this city and other places in TN are witnessing under the regime of Minister SP Velumani - Karthikeya Sivasenapathy.
In all probability, Thondamuthur will be the most noted constituency in Coimbatore, as both DMK and AIADMK candidates will be at loggerheads at each other. The South constituency will be the other hotly noted constituency and the battle lines are being drawn with BJP's Vanathi Srinivasan, MNM President Kamal Haasan and Mayura Jayakumar from Congress facing off against each other.
while the DMK candidate of Thondamuthur constituency, Karthikeya Sivasenapthy points a slew of corruption in the name of development by the AIADMK Minister SP Velumani, the Minister on the other hand constantly claims monumental developmental work, something that has never been witnessed in the history of Coimbatore. The tug of war at Thondamuthur Constituency is deeply entrenched as DMK has constantly been targeting Minister SP Velumani and has been claiming that as soon as they come to power, he’s sure to end up in prison.
Let's debate, calls Karthikeya Sivasenapathy
When asked about this aggressive stance against Minister SP Velumani, Karthikeya Sivasenapathy told that “Never in the history has such monumental corruption taken place anywhere in Tamil Nadu and we have given all the proof to the governor and cases have been taken up in court”. When questioned about the war of words heating up, the DMK candidate told that 'I've called the AIADMK Minister for an open debate in any media forum. But, he won’t come as he clearly knows we will expose him publicly. To the contrary, if has nothing to hide, we should be more than wiling to take part in the debate."
"People are under immense distress due to the ineptness of the ruling AIADMK government and their massive corruption. The Ministers of AIADMK are busy stacking cash in their vaults by compromising the welfare of the people. Tenders are floated for their personal gains not for people", he further alleged.
"Irrespective of any industry/trade/citizens, all walks of people are equally affected by the ruling AIADMK's corruptions, which is the reason Tamil Nadu is reeling under unemployment and economic crisis. On the other hand, the appalling crime rates against women and children in the State especially the Pollachi sexual abuse case, Thudiyalur child sexual assault and murder case in Coimbatore have garnered national attention. The increasing crime rates itself is a perfect testimony for AIADMK's pathetic governance", alleges Karthikeya Sivasenapathy.
He further went on to say that while the people are fighting for their bread and butter during this pandemic situation, the people's representative in Coimbatore, Minister SP Velumani is busy scrapping the coffers of people's tax money and amassing wealth through tenders and contracts. These are not baseless allegations, as the cases against him are ongoing at Madras High Court, pointed Karthikeya Sivasenapathy who also cited majority of contracts across all municipalities/ corporations accorded to the companies of Minister SP Velumani's aides. With next to nil explanation for any of the charges, the Minister blinds people here by portraying Coimbatore as Singapore and other developed nations and shamelessly claims to the citizens that this City has never seen such development in the last 50 years, he lambasted.
Adding to all these, is the Suez Contract- which the Coimbatore Corporation had signed an agreement for 24/7 water supply distribution at a cost of Rs.2,972.16 to 60 wards of the 100 wards within the Corporation limits. Without any consultation or analysis, the project was signed in a hurried manner by the Coimbatore Corporation under the aegis of Minister SP Velumani. Even after months of laying pipelines, people are clueless on how the distribution system would work, the pricing etc. Dearth of transparency in projects and haphazard execution of the same is what people of this city and other places in TN are witnessing under the regime of Minister SP Velumani, who is the Minister for local body for the entire state but never leaves this city, alleged the Thondamuthur Constituency candidate, Karthikeya Sivasenapathy who has leveled all these allegations against the Minister and called him for an open debate.
