Bank Employees are involved in a strike for the 2nd today against the privatization of public sector banks.
Coimbatore: Bank Employees are involved in a strike for the 2nd today against privatization of public sector banks.
Reports say that around ₹450 crores trade has been affected due to the bank employees strike for the second day. Public were seen waiting in long lines to withdraw cash from ATM machines.
When asked about the strike, Employees stated that "In the 27 mainstream banks across India, many were privatized due to various reasons leaving less than 12 nationalised banks in India.
However the government has decided to privatize 2 more nationalised banks into private. Reservation in jobs can only be availed by the poor and oppressed when the banks remain nationalized, also small entrepreneurs and farmers will be able to avail loans at a low interest rate only if the banks remain as a public sector institution.
All this will be affected if the public banks are turned private. This is the main reason behind our protest against the privatization of public sector banks. We have begun our first stage of protests against the privatization of banks, this will continue."
Bank employees who are involved in the second day of the protest chanted slogans urging the central government to reclaim the new privatization policy of public sector banks.
