Coimbatore: 31 candidates filed their nomination papers on the same day in Coimbatore. Candidature filing for the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections began on the 12th. Only 2 candidates had filed their nomination papers on the first day and no filed nominations since the 13th and 14th are holidays. At the nominations held yesterday, a total of 31 candidates have filed their nomination papers for 10 constituencies in Coimbatore district.
Election Officer said, "A total of 31 candidates filed their nomination papers in Mettupalayam constituency in Coimbatore district yesterday. 3 in Sulur constituency, 5 in Kavundampalayam constituency, 5 in Coimbatore north constituency, 4 in Thondamuthur constituency, 3 in Coimbatore south constituency, 7 in Singanallur constituency and 1 in Pollachi have been filed. In Valparai and Kinathukadavu constituencies no one has filed nominations so far. So far 33 candidates have filed nominations in 10 constituencies in Coimbatore district, including 2 who filed nominations on the first day."
