Coimbatore: Two-year-old dead elephant calf buried after autopsy in Coimbatore. A female elephant between the ages of two and three was found dead near Coimbatore yesterday. At 9.30 am yesterday, the tribesmen of Attukal tribal village found the body of a female elephant calf inside the Boluvampatti Block III Reserve forest in the Kempanur Beat Navavatu range area of Coimbatore and informed the Forest ranger
Accompanied by Dr. Karthikeyan, Assistant Veterinary Surgeon, Narasipuram Veterinary Hospital, the forest ranger and field staff reached the spot at around 1.30 pm. The place where the elephant died was 5 km away from the forest boundary. The autopsy was performed by a veterinarian. The assistant veterinarian said the female elephant calf was about 2-3 years old and had died from falling from a height. The doctor said the elephant may have died three days ago.
