39 people arrested in multiple ganja cases in two weeks: West zone IG Dinakaran
Coimbatore: West Zone IG Dinakaran said that 39 persons were arrested in two ganja cases in west zone in the past two weeks. In the statement released by IG Dinakaran it stated that, in the last 15 days, 23 ganja cases have been registered and 39 people have been arrested in Coimbatore under the West Zone Police.
62 kg of ganja worth Rs 5,60,950 and 5 two-wheelers and four-wheelers were seized from them. 11 people were arrested in 95 cases in Tirupur district and 26 kg of ganja worth Rs 2,60,500 and a two wheeler were seized from him.
In Salem in the last 15 days, 6 ganja cases were registered and 8 persons were arrested. 19 kg of ganja worth Rs. 1,83,400 was seized from them. A total of 29 ganja cases were registered in the west zone and 39 people were arrested. 81 kg worth Rs. 7,27,350 has been seized from them.
In the last 3 days, 260 cases have been registered against 260 persons in connection with the illegal sale of liquor at Tasmac Bar in Coimbatore. 3,077 bottles worth Rs. 3,64,365 were confiscated from them. Similarly, 276 cases have been registered in Salem and 276 cases have been registered against them. 3,462 bottles of liquor worth Rs 3,47,990 were seized from them.
In all, 536 cases of illegal sale of liquor were registered in the West Zone and 536 persons were prosecuted. 1539 bottles worth Rs. 7,12,355 have been confiscated from them.
