Coimbatore: An Awards Ceremony was held todayin Pollachi on behalf of the Aarti Foundation for Women to promote the achievement of women on World Women's Day.
It was attended by a large number of women, including Coimbatore District Women and Children Crime Prevention Police Additional Superintendent of Police Sukasini. Achievement Awards were presented to 7 women in Pollachi for their achievements in various fields and for their social service on this Women's Day.
Mahalakshmi, who has lost her sight and works as a teacher, Gayathri, a world gold medalist in athletics, Manjula Devi, a 70 - year - old tailor, and Vellaiyammal, who rides a bicycle and distributes milk to the public, were honored with shawls.
The event also raised awareness about health and mental health for women. It is to be noted that for the first time, a self-confidence improvement training center for women was launched in Pollachi.
