The actor-turned politician in a tweet had confirmed to file his nominations on Monday and invited people to join his debut campaign, on the same day for South Constituency."Join me for the campaign at 6 PM at Thermutti in Raja Street. Let's protect our people, soil and language", he tweeted in Tamil.
Kamal in his electoral debut, will contest against BJP’s Vanathi Srinivasan and Mayura Jayakumar from Congress.
MNM released the second list of candidates on Friday. The MNM is in alliance with Indhiya Jananayaga Katchi (IJK) and actor Sarathkumar's All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi (AISMK). Both the parties will contest 40 seats.
MNM which made its electoral debut in 2019 Lok Sabha election polled 3.72% of votes in both urban and rural including Chennai and Coimbatore.
