Corrupt-free Coimbatore is our Vision, says MNM VP and Singanallur contestant Dr.R. Mahendran

Makkal Needhi Maiam President Kamal Haasan and General Secretary VP Mahendran have announced to contest in Coimbatore.



Coimbatore: Dramatic scenes unveiled at the Coimbatore international airport on Friday evening, as hundreds of cadres of various political parties gathered to give thunderous welcome to their party heads and candidates selected to contestant in Coimbatore assembly constituency. 

Among them were cadres of Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) who were elated and bursting in joy, as their party head, Kamal Haasan has announced to contest in Coimbatore South and Vice President, Dr. R. Mahendran in Singanallur constituency. 



Receiving the VP with floral bouquets and sweets, the zealous cadres raised slogans of victory. The cadres expressed full support to campaign for the party and make both Kamal and Mahendran, win in their respective constituencies. "It's going to be a twin victory" they shouted in joy. 

Speaking to the media, Dr. R. Mahendran said that the decision for Kamal Hassan and himself to contest in Coimbatore is a conscious decision to make Coimbatore district, free of corruption. 



Speaking to media, the VP said "We trust the people of Kongu region to cast their votes for MNM and make the party emerge victorious. Party President, Kamal Haasan will be making his electoral debut, against the BJP and Congress in Coimbatore South Constituency."

“Not just in Coimbatore constituencies, we eye to win all the constituencies our candidates are fielded in. Our election campaign in Coimbatore will be focussed to root out corruption", he told the media. 

Dr. Mahendran also added that the party is hopeful to secure more votes and cited the 2019 Lok Sabha election results in urban areas. 

It is to be recalled that in 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Dr. Mahendran, VP of MNM contested in Coimbatore constituency and gained 1,45,104 votes and secured third position.
