Coimbatore: MLA Kasthuri Vasu from the Karumalai Estate area contested at the Valparai Constituency, Coimbatore on behalf of AIADMK party and won the state assembly elections of 2016.

However, in the candidate list announced by the AIADMK Officials the day before yesterday, she was replaced by Amul Kandhasami from Kavundampalayam, Coimbatore.
This incident has created a stir amidst the AIADMK party members of Valparai.
Later, the party members today participated in a roadside demonstration near the 40th hairpin bend of the Valparai-Pollachi road.
Valparai Police Inspector Maheshwari on hearing about this incident arrived at the scene and conducted a talk with the members, after which they dissolved from the area.
This sudden demonstration created panic for sometime in the area.
