AIADMK executives protest to make MLA Amman Arjunan to contest in Coimbatore South Assembly and not oblige to BJP's demands
Coimbatore: AIADMK executives protest in front of the AIADMK headquarters in the district to make MLA Amman Arjunan to contest in Coimbatore South Assembly and not oblige to BJP's demands. AIADMK's Amman K Arjunan is the Member of the Legislative Assembly for the Coimbatore South Assembly constituency.
The AIADMK leadership is reportedly planning to allot the constituency to the BJP, a coalition party in the forthcoming assembly elections. All arrangements are made for the BJP national women's wing leader Vanathi Srinivasan to contest in this constituency. BJP has been forcing the AIADMK leadership to allocate the Coimbatore South Assembly constituency and hence the AIADMK leadership is said to have decided to allot the Coimbatore South constituency to the BJP following the BJP's insistence.
The party executives today staged a protest at the AIADMK headquarters in Coimbatore district due to this. Five area secretaries and more than 20 branch secretaries from the Coimbatore South Assembly constituency protested with their resignation letters.
The MLAs who took off their shirts and lay on the ground, demanded that the constituency be returned to Amman Arjunan. AIADMK executives protested and said that if the constituency was handed over to the coalition parties, all the executives would have no choice but to resign.
Following this, executives at the AIADMK headquarters reconciled the protesters. The protest caused a stir in the AIADMK office in Coimbatore for more than an hour.
