A Pollachi resident has filed a welfare case in the Chennai High Court alleging that parking facilities were not provided in commercial premises in the Pollachi Mahalingapuram roundabout area. Following this, the court sent notices to the concerned businesses to provide parking facilities.
But as the shops still did not provide parking, following the court order to seal those shops, the town planning officers sealed off four shops in the Mahalingapuram roundabout with police security on the orders of the Municipal Commissioner. Then there was a commotion as the public gathered. Authorities also said action would be taken against shopping malls in the area that did not provide parking.
