2 Cops from Variety Hall police station in Coimbatore caught red handed for taking a bribe of rupees 2,000.
Coimbatore: Sridhar (35) from Kovaipudur is a daily wage employee. On 28th last month, Sridhar who was drunk was returning from work on his motorcycle via Gandhipark when he was stopped by Sub Inspector Irulappan (56) and Ganesan (56).
After this the police officials seized the vehicle and asked Sridhar to come to the police station the next day to get the bike back.
Sridhar went to the police station in Variety Hall road the next day to retrieve his bike.
The officials said that they haven't filed any report against Sridhar and asked him to pay a fine of Rs 2000 to avoid the case. Sridhar who was shocked on hearing this, left the station immediately promissing to come back with the money.
But Sridhar who did not want to pay the bribe filed a complaint with the Vigilance and Anti-corruption Department officials who then have Sridhar 2000 rupees cash which was marked.
On receiving the marked bills, Sridhar went to the Variety Hall police station and gave the cash to Irulappan and Ganesan. Post this, the Vigilance and Anti Corruption Officials who were in hiding caughtthe officials red handed.
After that both Irulappan and Ganesan were arrested and are being investigated now for talking bribe. This incident has created panic in Coimbatore.
